As of Android 11, screen recording is built in. For earlier versions of Android, you’ll need to use the Play Games app or download a third-party app. Please note that certain protected content, such as Netflix videos, may be displayed as a black screen when captured by some screen recorders.
Tip: It’s a good idea to put your phone in Do Not Disturb mode, when recording, so your recording isn’t interrupted by notifications. Do Not Disturb is activated via the Quick Settings menu, which appears when you swipe down from the top of your screen.
For Android 11 phones and newer, you can launch the screen recording feature at any time by swiping your screen to access the Quick Settings menu. You may need to add Screen Recording to your Quick Settings menu manually.
For Android 10, if you have a Samsung or LG device, your phone has a screen recording function almost identical to Android 11’s. Swipe down from the top of your screen to pull up the Quick Settings menu, and swipe to either Screen Recording (on an LG phone) or Screen Recorder (on a Samsung). Use the record button to begin the countdown to recording, and the stop button to end.
